Home based Career Advisors

SalesForce@Home are looking for self-employed qualified career advisors to take part in their newest campaign offering career advice on behalf of their client DEEWR (Department of Employment Education and Workplace Relations).

The purpose of the career advisory service is to provide solution-focused advice to all Australians over the telephone and will include advice such as career planning, training course advice, career guidance, choosing a career, and action planning. This will be part of a new Federal Government initiative aimed at addressing the needs of Australians affected by the Global Financial Crisis.

Who are SalesForce@Home

SalesForce@Home is an outsource provider of call centre services. What makes us unique is that contractors that provide services to us don’t sit in an office; they work from the comfort of their own home as independent contractors, answering phone calls from our client’s customers.

We offer flexibility (no rosters, you choose the hours you want to work), full online accreditation and the chance to participate in a virtual community that now spans the entire country. We will support you with the latest in technology and a support team available whenever you are providing services to us.

What will you be required to do?

Career advisors will be required to provide solutions-focused advice and assistance specific to an individual’s circumstances and will include advice such as career planning, training course advice, career guidance, choosing a career and action planning. Information and advice will be provided utilising various approved websites and other reference material as required in order to present current and up-to-date service.

Career advisors must have knowledge of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners and The Australian Blueprint for Career Development

In particular you will be competent in

  • Knowledge, understanding and application of career development theory
  • Ability to convey and apply labour market information
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Information and Resource Management
  • Professional and ethical practice

It would also be desirable but not essential to have knowledge of the Guiding Principles for Career Development Services and Career Development Products.

In order to be considered you must have the following

  • Professional membership of one of the eleven career practitioner associations represented on the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA)
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Workcover Insurance(where required)
  • Australian Business Number

You will also need the following equipment in order to work from home

  • A PC which runs Windows XP/Vista or a Mac
  • Broadband Internet connection
  • A telephone and a headset
  • A Telstra landline connection
  • A quiet space that can be a dedicated office or work area

Operational hours will be Monday- Friday 8am-8pm. You may work anytime within these times (providing you provide services for a minimum of 16 hours per week).
